Philosophy The minute we set foot out of our homes, we enter public space. A place which is to a large extend public, but not by definition the framework for our public life. Creativity and initiative are stifled by a flood of rules and regulations. Result is a decline in diversity, a factor which is of upmost importance to a lively city (image below). Without creative use of public space, it will become a place which gets us from one place to another, often lacking in interaction, inspiration and development. How it works ENJOYPUBLICSPACE is about offering people the inspiration to enjoy public space in a new way; to make it a challenging playground without limits. This website is not only a virtual place that collects all of the projects supporting this vision, it also links the projects to different locations in the city, which you can find on the map. These 'spots' provide background information, pictures and movies of the projects on site. Projects ENJOYPUBLICSPACE wants to stimulate personal use of public space. Some of the projects offer the user an opportunity to enjoy the public space through designs that you can rent, buy or make yourself. Other projects suggest alternative ways of using public space by on-off demonstrations, actions which take place only once and are documented to spread the idea.
